g1 not running

Hey evryone im new to this forum and have a quick question about my g1.
I just picked it up and it was not running. It has been sitting for a while and the guy
It came from said it did not run for him. I cleaned the carb checked the compression
(124 lbs) and has fuel and spark. It will crank forward and backwards like its suppost to but will not fire. All I can get it to do is crank over once in a while it will fire but seems like it wants to run backwards. It acts the same when I try it in reverse. Now it almost acts like its out of time or had a sheared flywheel key but I pulled the flywheel off and everything is fine. Now I checked the stator and it is set in the middle. Im not sure ware the stator is normally supposed to be. I also swaped out the reeds and reed cage with one from a running g1 parts engine. I am pretty knowledgeable about this kind of stuff but this has me stumped. Any help would be awsome. Ps im not sure on the year but it has a boost bottle and i have see g1's that dont if that helps any.

Just an update. I rebuilt the engine did the same thing come to fin out the wires were crossed
On the selenoids.

Good to see you found the issue. I had a similar issue with my G1, ran poor, sputtered. I found low compression and rebuilt the engine. Still had the same issue, while sitting and looking at it in disgust my son asked if it had a good ground. The light bulb went on and a direct ground to the coil and my issue was fixed.
