Re: v glide very hot and melting....help!!
You may be onto something here > you asked " could weak batteries be causing this?" and the answer is yes. Weak batteries will drop in voltage significantly under load. The lack of battery voltage will cause the motor to draw more amperage. The increased amperage draw will produce more heat.

Re: v glide very hot and melting....help!!
OEM V glide will help.
Have had this issue in the past when really nothing was available to make it better. I doubled up on the top 3 speeds on the V glide as that is where it tends to melt, and I also doubled up on the Moveable contact wire inside the box. Never had a failure again. However, with what is available today, just getting rid of the v glide would be the answer. You could even go to a PB-6 box, (done that too) and it will work. |

Re: v glide very hot and melting....help!!
What do you mean by " doubling up the wires? So the batteries can cause the v glide to overheat?

I have never dealt with the ones that carry heavy loads like yours but I would say OEM would hold up better almost every time.

Re: v glide very hot and melting....help!!
When you say double up do you mean go with a heavier gauge wire? 6 ga.?
