Default Installed a "homelink" to the cart

Sick of carrying my garage door opener I've been looking for an alternative. Searching "EZGO" on Ebay, messed up and found this EZG motorcycle garage door opener.

Just installed it and programed it in 5 minutes - great little mod

If it works on motorcycle garage doors can you boost the voltage and make it work on big garage doors too?

Great idea but the one you have wouldn't work on my garage door opener. My opener has no dip switches the remotes have a unique code that the opener has to learn. So I looked into what would work for me and the kit was like $99 dollars. So I decided to make my own.

Ordered a new remote for $13.75 on ebay. I had the button with wires attached from an old viper alarm that was not used. Desoldered the middle button and soldered wires from button to circuit board. Make sure you determine which two wires make circuit, button on board is soldered in four spots but only two make circuit. Ground a notch in case for wire to come thur and put back together. works like a champ. Attached are pictures of what I did.

Next I wanted to make it secure so noone could just walk up to cart while in driveway and open garage. I have a two position key switch in my cart. The first position turns on a 36 to 12 voltage reducer. From the voltage reducer there is a marine fuse block which runs the lights and radio on my cart. The only problem is that the remote is 6 volt so I called up my brother (electronics genius) about dropping 12 volt to 6 volt and he told me to get a 7806 voltage regulator. Ordered 5 off ebay for $1.59. Have not got them yet but will update after I finish.

Barsss... please update this post when you're finished, this has me really interested as my first 'mod' tp my cart. You will use the cart batteries to provide power to the remote instead of the batteries on the controller, correct (great idea for added security)?

Dela... I've been looking for the controller that you used on ebay with no luck? Thanks for starting this thread.
