'84 Marathon resistor cart - solenoid diode good idea?
I've been following the thread Solenoid Diode and got to thinking it may not be a bad idea to install a diode and resistor combination on my solenoid when I rewire my cart.
I tore down my accelerator wiper board yesterday, and the right hand power connection insulator on the solenoid is melted, so I'm gonna replace the solenoid anyway. Here's a diagram with the diode and resistor in red. The diode is a 3W 400PIV 1N5404 available at Radio Shack for $1.99. I got the resistor value from one of JohhnieB's enhanced controller cart drawings (5W/250 ohms). Is there any down side to this? RLW |

Its definitely not a bad idea! As far as it helping the cart, I don't know if it will but it wont hurt anything... And its very cheap so I would go ahead and do it!
