Re: Charger and one of those days
I'm thinking maybe the plug pulling the weight of the charger while still plugged into the cart may have bent/broken/damaged/torn loose something inside of or just behind the charger receptacle. Give it a good look and see if you see anything out of the ordinary.

Re: Charger and one of those days
My buddy came to the house last night and brought 2 chargers. My old one and a III. Both of them worked on various carts that he and another buddy work with.
We tried them both and for a few moments on each the amp meter would go up as it should. On subsequent charge attempts, they would barely budge. A few beers later and after studying the situation, I just pushed the terminal on a battery that had melted previously (due to a lose nut) and the amp meter plugged in at the time took off. It ends up that the battery has an intermittent short in it due to the meltdown of the terminal. And my powerdrive II still works despite being dragged down the drive and into the road. I will try that on my yard help next time (my sons). So, it will be new cables and batteries. I am staying with 4 12v batteries because my cart's batteries rest on an aluminum frame, no bucket. Next time I will have a way to hold the 6 8v's. And for what its worth, my buddy is giving me the PD III in exchange for my PD II because he has a couple of extras. |

Re: Charger and one of those days
I took it to the dealer today to let them install new batteries and cables. With the way things have been going I figured it was in the best health of health for the cart.
While there, they tried to drive it off the trailer. The volt meter went from a bit above 50 and got down to 28 in seconds. I am hoping that this is a result of the f'ed up battery. The terminal their got right warm in an instant and you could smell the sulfur. W'ell see. We then pushed it off the trailer and into the shop. |
