PowerWise Charger Help
PowerWise Charger 28115 G04 with the two boards (older style).
Just replaced two bad diodes and bad 50 amp fuse and charger does not Hum. New Diodes test good as well as the fuse. AC cord has correct continuity and voltage to the board as well as the DC cord to the relay board and charge relay. Red Aux wire is good as well. Rad socks are clean and test good. Pack voltage (36.7) is consistent at radsock as well as at the ammeter etc. I have jumped the charge relay even though it recognizes (clicks) when the cart is plugged in. Lester trouble shooting guide indicates that the transfomer is bad. Is there a test to run on the transformer or have I missed something along the way?? |

2. Disconnect the wires going to the diodes (with power off of course ) and connect an AC voltmeter between the wires. With AC power applied to the primary, you should read about 90VAC with the capacitor connected and about 60VAC with capacitor disconnected. If the transformer is bad, buy a DPI Accusense charger. http://www.cartsunlimited.net/48v_Battery_Charger.html |

Re: PowerWise Charger Help
Johnnie B,
Thanks I will run those tests/ recommendations when I get home tonight. 1. Verify you have AC line voltage applied to the transformer primary when relay clicks, or when relay is bypassed. Not assuming anything but want to verify that this is performed with AC energized or plugged in to house AC current? |

If the primary has AC line voltage applied and the secondaries don't have AC voltage out, the transformer is bad. BTW: Replacement transformers are available for a PW 28115, but they cost more than a new DPI charger. |

Re: PowerWise Charger Help
Test of the secondaries produced no voltage. I referred the owner to the Cartsunlimited to purchase the charger you recommended. I now have a PowerWise charger to use as a trouble shooting hood ornament.

Re: PowerWise Charger Help
The DPI is the best thing since sliced bread.
Keep it plugged into cart whenever you aren't driving cart. Some of the parts in the PW are still good (Diodes, Capacitor?? and ammeter) and you might be able to sell or give them away here: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/golf-carts-parts/ |
