Looking for Input
I have a (6x8v) 2008 CC Precedent IQ. Stock motor, controller, 205/50/10 tires and 4ga battery cables only. I would like to upgrade slowly. I see that both Alltrax and Curtis offer 400 amp controllers (DCX400IQ & 1268-5403).
1. Can I use these on a stock motor ?? 2. If I use a stock motor do I need to upgrade to a 400 amp solenoid?? 3. What are the pros and cons of one controller over another? 4. I would like to get a PQ Executioner down the road. Here in my neighborhood the streets are smooth and flat. I may also in the change to a taller tire (20in) and add a rear seat kit. Looking for about 25+ mph I know GE makes a 400 amp controller, your thoughts on them are also welcome. Been reading stuff on this site for about 6/8 months, like JohnnieB the best. Wish I new what the hell he was taking about. Thanks in advance for all your comments. |

Re: Looking for Input
Hard to beat Plum Quick. I run the stock controller. Flat airport community. I could get speeding tickets if anyone had a radar gun
First upgrade should be a ScottyB's volt meter. Absolutely indispensable! Check my sig for my setup. Nothing difficult or exotic. I know only a fraction of what other guys know. Hats off to the companies who support BGW. |

Agree with CTD.
Additionally since you are planning a Plum Quick upgrade, I would contact them about controllers they like to use with their motors. Always best when controllers are matched to the motors. |

Re: Looking for Input
GE doesn't make controllers anymore, FSIP brought them out and they make their version of it, not that it is an issue it is a good controller. I'm very pleased with the PQ upgrade but If I was to do it again, I'd let PQ build the motor and Scottyb handle the rest, he will match it up properly. I went back with a 500 amp Curtis, plug and play, It was designed as a replacement upgrade for the stock controller. JMO we all have opinions lol!
