Default e series scr battery shutting off after 2min

I am new to the golf cart scene. I just bought my first cart, a Club Car Electric DS model and brought it home today. It is the 48v and i have a E-Series SCR Lester 48v charger. The batteries are Trojan T-875's. The charger is shutting off after about 2min for charging. I have checked the voltage on each battery and all are around 8.3v except for one which is at 7.7v. Checking the voltage across the pack when charging starts around 50v and slowing climbs, got to about 51.5v and shuts off. Do i have a bad battery or batteries?

BTW when i got it home drove it for about 1mile and then barely made it home. As well its a 2004 and was a 36v converted to a 48v the serial numbers starts with AB0412-

Do i need to charge that one low battery individually?

That low battery may be bad under load. If it's voltage spikes up during charge, the charger will think it's done and shut off. You need to load test all of the batteries.

Here is a SWAG for you. During the first minute or so of charging the charger goes through a self test. It is normal for it to shut after a minute or so. Then it will pause and restart if it passes self test. A common reason for failing self test is that it doesn't sense any current flow and the reason for this is because the negative cable isn't going thru the hole in the OBC.

The charger shutting off though is the breaker is tripping. I have to reset the fuse on the front of the charger for it to start again.

1. Weak breaker - replace.
2. Possibly rectifier in charger going bad.

I would look at those two things first . . . inexpensive repairs.

The breaker to the house is not tripping its the one on the charger itself. Sorry but what is a rectifier and how to order or replace one? Also appears that the charger is getting warm is that typical?

Ok so i called Lester electronics and they said to bypass the reset switch on the charger and let the breaker on the house trip if there is an issue. Charged over night no problems. They are sending me a new switch for free :)

Bad part is now i have a new problem drove it for about an hour today started to smell smoke and appears my wife fryed the v-glide because she was not going full throttle most of the time. Cart appears to be a 36v converted to a 48v. I have been reading that there are electronic controllers, what would be the best to go with for a 04 DS?
