95 EZ-Go Starting Problem
I have a 95 model that I am having trouble getting it to turn over. I took the starter of and checked the brushes and they seemed fine. I then hooked power to it to check and see if it would spin and it was ok. It seemmed to run fine so I put it back on and tried it out and could not get the motor to turn over. I also put a meter on the lead coming from the selinoid and got 12volts. Any sugestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 95 EZ-Go Starting Problem
I had a starter that would not work all the time on the cart. The problem turned out to be some bad segments on the armature. If it stopped on the bad area it would not work.
Try turning the starter belt a little & see if it works. Easy test |

Re: 95 EZ-Go Starting Problem
Have you tried jumping it off? does that work? Are all your connections clean and in good working order? does it do anything when you try to start it?
I have more problems with corroded connection than anything else on these carts. (even If you can read 12v in them) |

Re: 95 EZ-Go Starting Problem
You need to have your battery "load" tested. You could read 12 volts on a meter but have no stored cranking "amps".
Bet you have a bad battery. If battery is good then check cable connections. |

Re: 95 EZ-Go Starting Problem
If the starter will run with the belt off, then I would say either the brushes are shot and not allowing enough current to turn over the engine or something is in a bind not allowing the engine to turn over, although it should still have enough power to spin over the belt. Can you turn the engine over manually (not locked up)? More than likely the brushes are bad in the starter/generator.
