Default Why does this high current wire mount here?

Im attaching a schematic for an older 36V DS and I am curious as to why the wire off the F/R switch goes to the positive battery in the middle of the pack? Seems to me that all power should be pulled across the entire pack and running a 4ga wire off one of the middle batteries would be defeating that purpose...or I could be totally wrong but I would love to hear why its wired like that. Thanks
