Default what ga. wire

i put a new 10 hp motor with anew 500 amp controller.what size wire should i use.it for a 94 clud car 48 volt.

At least 4ga. I have the same model but 36v and a 650a controller and I rewired mine with 2ga. Be sure to use welding cable. Do you have a heavy duty solenoid?

i have 4 ga. on it but need to get th foward reverse switch and sol. but thought it would be faster. it does 17 mph on flat ground. i also prgrammed the controller to the max

Is it a speed or torque motor? Who's? What size tires? 17 mph on sock wheels is not bad. Bigger wheels and tires will give you a few more.

22" tires it is atorque motor but was told it should do over 20 mph

4g wire and 500 amps ahould be enough to let it do all it can? Who's motor is it? I assume the programable controller is Alltrax and it is set to 100% power?
