Reversing Contactor, What is the purpose for these?
What is a reversing contactor for? Does it somehow replace the solenoid?
Thanks |

A reversing contacor would replace the F/R assembly, widely regarded as the weak point in the EZ-Go Series drivetrain.

It can also replace the solenoid as well as the F/R switch. In other words it takes the place of both if you want it to. Your better of using just the Reversing contactor for simplification.

Did you mean I would be better off using the reversing contactor to replace BOTH the solenoid & FNR switch? I guess you could use a rocker swith to control the forward or reverse then? Do you know where I might find a wiring diagram to wire one into my 2004 txt series? |

Re: Reversing Contactor, What is the purpose for these?
Thanks for all the great info Roady,
I assume that is the battery pack at top right - is the battery to the left an extra battery, or is it just shown so that you know to use only one battery to energize the coil of the reversing contactor? Thanks |

Re: Reversing Contactor, What is the purpose for these?
You dont have to use a single battery like its shown. Just be sure and get a reversing contactor that will accept the voltage of your pack and use the pack to supply coil voltage. My bad, I knew how to wire it and just A$$umed others would understand. I only used it for the main battery wiring and did my own control wiring. You can get them 12 volts and up...

Re: Reversing Contactor, What is the purpose for these?
Matter of fact, I wouldn't use that diagram to do the control wiring. Just use it for main. I wired mine through the key---->microswitch on peddle---->F/R switch----->F/R contactor.
