key switch voltage and current
Hello All!!!
I would like to make a hack to my EZ GO ignition so I can remotely start it with an Arduino microcontroller. In order to do that I must switch it using a relay or a MOSFET. I would your help! I believe what I have is an EZ GO TXT (how can I tell for sure?) I saw I have 2 white wires and one red which as far as I saw is connected to the battery meter. What is the voltage running through the keyswitch? what is current? does the current change when the motor is running on full load or is it a different circuit which is not influenced? After it will work I can post an example and an explanation how it's working if that interests you guys... The logic circuit is already working, I just need the actual switching... Thank you very much in advance! waiting for your help... |

Re: key switch voltage and current
The keyswitch passes 36 volts to the microswitch in the ITS.

Re: key switch voltage and current
I am a little confused, its an electric cart, and it really doesn't remote start, since nothing cranks up its electric. Unless you have a gas motor, and it still doesn't crank up till you step on the gas.
There is no real purpose for remote start unless you just dont want to turn the key and in that case put one of those cool looking push button start buttons on it. |

Re: key switch voltage and current
Why do you want to remote start? if you don't want to turn the key you may as well hard wire the ignition to stay on.

Re: key switch voltage and current
this golf cart is all about instant ride so everything is very quick but inserting the key to the switch is taking the "longest time" from the whole starting process.
also, my key switch is a little bit annoying... you have to insert the key very straight coz if you don't it won't get in. not like in a car that the key "slips" inside. I don't want to hard-wire it coz I don't want any of the children in my village start taking it for a ride without my permission. beside that, if there's something to hack, than why don't? :-) anyway, I understand it's 36v but is it low current through the key switch contacts? Thanks! |

Re: key switch voltage and current
I checked the serial number and it turns out it's a 2001 TXT.
well, does it help answering the question? |

Re: key switch voltage and current
If this helps you, my 881 model cart has a 15amp fuse in the key switch circuit.
