There is a limited slip kit for the rear ends, it won't do as well as a locker or welding up the gears but it is an improvment over the open rear.

I thought about welding it but I just don't want to mess up that rear end.

One draw back to a welded diff or spool is trying to make tight turns....its more for going straight. Personally I've seen a lot of broken axles because people try to use it on the street.

The only LSD kits available are for the 98 ups. Seems there was a bearing change that year. So 97 down has no kit. Just so you know.
