Default Cart runs cold, not hot

2005 EzGo st gas. Runs when cold and not when hot. Think it’s spark related. Can the pick up coil (pulsator) work while cold, then not when “hot”?

Cart ran, went about a mile or so, then died. Towed home.
Ran the next day. It’s been doing this a few times now.

Thanks!

That is possible for sure. Not on an EZGO, but I had a Yamaha do the exact same thing. Replaced coil (TCI) and all better..

Start with adjusting the valves.

I don’t thinks it’s the valves. I came home for the beach today and washed it off. The cart didn’t start at all. I had to keep the foot on the gas a few min. Then it started.

I checked compression. About 160 psi on both cylinders. (My gage is not the best).
Checked valves (per your suggestions, ty).
Both outer valve lash was good. Two inner valves were tight. I set lash.
Cart runs (but it usually does after sitting) but I’m still concerned this is not the fix.
Will keep everyone updated.

Check connections on all the wires you can find
I was chasing a similar problem, cart would run cold then stop, nothing until it sat for a few minutes

Turned out one of the blade connectors on the solenoid was loose and I guess as it would heat up the metal expanded just enough to lose connection
Little squeeze with a pair of pliers and we were off and running

Yes, it’s gotta be something electrical.
I went thru all the connections, everything seems ok.
I took the cart out yesterday, drove 400 yards or so. Parked for 5 min. Drove home and it died in my driveway. So it’s not valves.
My pulsator measures 500 ohms. That ok?

Pulsator puts out 0.8 volts A/C so that should be ok? Correct?

Sounds like an ignition coil. Those are pretty common to work when cold, and fail once they get hot. You can check the coil with a meter and see if it is within tolerance range or not easy enough.

IS this MCI or Pre-MCI? IF it's a pre-mci it's also worth checking the vertical plate where the ignitor, VR, solenoid, etc are mounted. It's common for those to rust underneath the plate where it connects to the body, so everything on the plate loses ground (including the ignitor). Reinforcing the ground strap or running a ground strap directly to the negative battery terminal can help if that's the case. Though I would still remove the plate, clean it all up really well with a wire wheel and reinstall it.
