89 Marathon F/R switch upgrades
While using my 48V controller Marathon I started to get the smell that every sparky owner fears. BURNING ELECTRICAL! I've double checked all connections and wiring and found nothing. While towing my yard trailer full of wood (something the cart is used for regularly) I got the smell again. I pulled the seat off and started feeling arund for heat and loose connections. Most wires and controller were warm but not hot. The only part that isn't new is the F/R switch which was hot. The switch has the HD buss bars installed. My question are; 1. Which is better; rebiuld or replace? 2. Based on question one; what are the best parts to get to handle the abuse? Please look at my sig for the upgrades that have been done. Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: 89 Marathon F/R switch upgrades
I think your choices are limited to HD buss and maybe new contacts in the FNR. The only other alternative I can think of is using relays for directional control along with a switch.

Re: 89 Marathon F/R switch upgrades
Thanks for the reply pggroves. I've been doing some research and as you said it looks like the HD buss bars and new contacts it will be. I did read somewhere that the springs should be replaced as well to make sure it has good contact. I thought about the relay thing but I'm going to stick to my winter time plans of making a console shifter (Thanks Richie) that operates the F/R switch.
