TXT will not charge?

I have a 2005 TXT, just purchased, original charger got hot and melted plug, took back to dealer said it was a bad charger. Got a new charger, fully charged the cart one time, yesterday it woukld not charge again. Plug continually gets hot and wires to the battery are also hot. Now a have a flashing charge meter on the dash board. I am new to golf cart ownership - can you help? Thanks!

Sounds like a shorted battery cell(s) right off the top of my head. Measure the voltage of each battery and see if one or more reads really low voltage.

I think you need to go back and have your dealer fix it. Seems he sold you a cart that doesn't work.

Thanks for the feedback - it appears that I just made a rookie mistake and did not let it charge long enough. After about 5 hours on the charger the batteries are now fully charged.

it does take a good while to charge these carts.

Seems you have your cart charger but I see potential future issue here. Check your outlet amperage and proper contact. Also have your dealer/or you check the charger plugs, sometimes they get dusty and rusty and that helps to generate heat.
A good working charger should not generate heat (probably little, just little warmth) on either AC or DC plugs, otherwise this could cause future problems.
