Battery Changes
Hi all,
i am wondering what the conventional wisdom is on replacing batteries. Is one at a time ok, or should it be more. Does the position of the battery in the array matter? Thanx |

Re: Battery Changes
replacing one battery at a time is not a good idea.the other batteries will drain power from it.at least that is the forum consensus? my .02 cents.

Re: Battery Changes
Do it all at once or you will compromise the life span of the new ones, when charged with the old ones they will be over cooked causing perminent damage to the plates.....

Re: Battery Changes
One at a time is not OK. If you insist on doing it that way your better off trying to find a used battery in decent condition to match the ohers. Buying 1 at a time can kill your good ones.

Re: Battery Changes
All Ya'll,
Thanx for the info. I believe I will bite the bullet and git 'em all...it makes logical sense to make the right investment. I've already changed the wires to 4AWG and have painted the terminals, but it's time to keep the economy moving ! crap. |

Re: Battery Changes
It is the right way to do ..... Now , Keep proper water levels, clean terminals, and never draw the pck down below 50% to get the max life out of your investment...... Do a search and find out the proper way to break-in a new set too.... It is all important

Re: Battery Changes
By 50%, do you mean on the gauge in the dash, or do you measure across them to get actual V?
Thanx again, this forum is great. I was a auto mechanic for many years and now I am in electronics, so the buggy was a natural step. I'm gonna post pix soon. |

Re: Battery Changes
Actual pack voltage per the chart I attached..... but breakin voltages want to be even higher like 60-70% and then fully recharge for the first 10 or 12 cycles..... Search around you'll find all the info.
P.S. Don't depend upon an gauge you haven't checked against a DVM |
