master66, if you strike out on the diode I have my old one left over. I could mail it to ya. You're still at 36v, right?

You bet, still at the lowly 36 volts, just trying to figure out how to get an extra 12 volts past the wife.

Hey I see that Radio Shack has 3 amp diodes with decisive 200 amp surge and 200 peak inversion voltage. Would that be correct or what kind of numbers am I looking for ?

So I replaced the diode hooked two reds on one post and two reds on ther small post and diode in the correct direction and still nothing. Like I said the stock solenoid worked fine before pulling it out. Dad did a check on both solenoids and the hd one activates when jumped, what else can we check, could something shorted when I had the diode backwards ?AAAArrrgggh

Yes the reverse alarm sounds correctly, so we checked the key switch and that is good so Dad seems to think the only other thing in line is the throttle switch. When we pulled apart the plug that has 4 wires in it, two of the wires in it that are red and green that go to the throttle switch and they were corroded and it looked like the insulation had melted also.

Yes I removed the plug because it was ugly and installed some bullet connectors on all of the wires and still nothing.
