grease to stop corosion
Can someone tell me what kind of grease or something to put on my cables and other electrical connections to keep them from corroding?

Re: grease to stop corosion
Use an anti-corrosion spray available at any auto parts store, even WalMart carries it. My technique is to spray the material into the cap from the can and paint it on with a disposable brush or Q-tip. This is less messy, and allows you to get UNDER the lugs too.

Re: grease to stop corosion
You may have been hearing about dielectric grease. It is very effective and very messy. Essentially anything that keeps the air away from the connection will stop the corrosion from starting.... I have seen everything from Vaseline to spray paint do the job. I prefer the spray protectant Gman spoke of.

Re: grease to stop corrosion
Ditto on the can stuff made for the use intended.
Other home remedies work somewhat, but I've noticed the stuff in cans tend to work better, last longer and do not allow corrosion to re-appear all the quickly, compared to other stuff I've tried over the years. |

Re: grease to stop corosion
I have a real routine I go through on my new batteries with custom cable installs..... I install batteries and hold downs then I remove the terminal nuts apply the spray protectant to all of the terminals. Then I spray the new cable ends top and bottom and place them on their perspective terminals with nuts and then spray the nuts ....

Re: grease to stop corosion
Thanks for the input. I have used the corrosionx on my boat before but was unsure if it was still available. I am glad to see someone has used it also. Thanks again.

Corrosion X, stops and prevents corrosion and rust. Use that stuff on my boat motor, electrical panel, pretty much everywhere. Especially if close to ocean or any salt water condition. Use 3 x a year rather then every other week like you would with WD40, etc. Not messy at all and stays on.

Re: grease to stop corosion
In my opinion, the best corrosion protector is CRC. I think it's like $6/can at AutoZone.

Re: grease to stop corosion
CRC is good but the thing with lubricants like t9 and corrosion x is that they have a polar bonding agent that clings on to metal surfaces like magnet and resists being washed away. Dont need to put nearly as often as other products. Max 2-3 times a year and a big bottle only costs 20 bucs
