dealer said my club car cant change speed settings is this true
I have Club car serial a99. The dealer said that my year doesn't have the ability to change to a #4 speed setting or have the option to go to #3 either. He said mine can't be changed from factory is this true?

That is true. But if you want more from your cart put a 36 volt motor on and you will have speed setting 4. Only the newer carts from about 2003 up have the progamable speed setting.

A new 36v motor can cost $500 from Plum Quick, but as the 36v motors are Series wound it would only be a plug and play if your cart has a Series wound motor. If you have a Regen then it probably means a new controller, fwd/rev switch and wiring harness. You can get an upgraded 48v motor from the same source. Check their website

a99 on serial number should be a sereis cart. Post your serial number that will help. A used 36 volt should run from $150 to $200. It is an item you just have to look for. Pull your 48 volt off and install the 36 volt.

Re: dealer said my club car cant change speed settings is this true
I also am installing a 6 inch lift and 22" tires so that should give a little more top end speed not sure how much more than the 10 mph I'm getting now but still any is better. And I read somewhere also about changing magnets to trick the Cart to think it's going slower than it is. Can this be done on mine?
