Default Re: Charge Meter 1996 Club Car goes into the red on the right during charging

Thanks - The batteries are new Trojans last fall. They sat all summer in AZ garage. My neighbor kept trying to charge the batteries and added water monthly. He said the charger never kicked in. I did have some overflow onto the garage floor. I am wondering if it would have been better just to let the batteries sit disconnected. I do that with my second car and it starts just fine after reconnecting the battery.

Letting them sit disconnected they will still drain. Just leave them connected and plug in once a month and let the charger go through its charging phase all the way. Deep cycle batteries are alot different then a regular car battery. Check water level after charging and wait a day and fill if necessary. Never fill them before charging and the only time you would is if the water level is below the plates. If it is below the plates before charging then just add enough distilled water so the plates are covered and re-check water level after charging.
