Default 2000.5 club car ds brake adjustment

my brakes lock up and i cant figure out how too adjust them.

there should be an adjustor on each rear brake, you,ll have to pull the wheels and drums it will be on the lower side just like the adjustors on cars........................

i have adjusted that 4 times today they seem to just tighten back up.

on the upper backing plate outside is there a little like 7mm screw? it would be right about where the bleeder for a wheel cylinder is......if so thats an adjust also but i,m not sure if it would come with both of them................did you take things apart and clean and lube them?............................

no there is not a nut on the upper inside of the backing plate the only nut is on the bottum just in front of the cable connection,and no i havent yet taken the assymbly apart.

it would be on the outside of the backing plate just like you would find a bleeder on a rear car brake.................................

i think we are talking about the same location but all my cart has is two pressed in rivets @ that location. i am going too losen the cables tomarow and adjust again then snug the cable back up.thanks for your help!!!!!! i will post results.

Hey Tom... I don't mean to correct you, but, the 7mm nut (torx or whatever do-dad) is on pre-96 vehicles... 97+ are self-adjusting!

If your brakes are locking up like my 98 48V did...
(Just lightly touching the pedal, locks up the brakes, almost sending you over the steering wheel!)

Get some coarse (100 grit) and light (400 grit) Emory cloth or sandpaper,
Remove the drums, use the coarse cloth/paper and lightly sand the brake shoes to remove the "glaze".
Use the 400 grit on the drums, and lightly sand them to remove the "glaze".

Clean the shoes, the drums, and all internals with brake cleaner, then reassemble and test!

ALSO... check to make sure that the axle U bolts are tight... I've heard that loose U bolts do this also!

I don't know if this will work for you, but... it worked for me!

thank you Don i wasn,t sure about the newer ones and was winging it...........i figured someone would know and jump in.........i think thats why i said it might have it....................................
