Re: 2004 Precedent with new batteries going slow
Ok. Same result. No change. Get just about 1 round and almost out or charge by end. Light coming on after 9 holes and horn stops working. Swapped chargers with neighbor. Charger switches off after 8hrs. Same as my charger. Is this long enough? Could obc be switching off early?

Re: 2004 Precedent with new batteries going slow
its possible but i have never heard of one doing that.......8 hours is ok, have you tested these batteries under load? if not thats what i would do next cause even a battery with good voltage can and will fail under load.......tape the leads from your meter to the proper post of each battery and than act as if your gonna drive and watch meter as you press pedal.....you want the # the meter drops to at 1st.................also pay attention to how it recovers as you drive...............write the #,s down and post them..............i would look there before a bad OBC..............................................8 )

Re: 2004 Precedent with new batteries going slow
OK will check loads tonight. my fears are a little raised by KGSCs post. This all started at time of changing the motor. I changed the motor first, then changed batteries because I couldnt get a whole round in AND the CC dealer checked the batteries and told me they were done. It was better with the new ones but gradually it is getting worse again.

Re: 2004 Precedent with new batteries going slow
UPDATE : I changed the motor to a PQ Bandit. Played golf today and got the usual.....18 holes and I almost did not make it home.
Measured voltages: Battery 1 (which has blue accessory and negative back to controller) - 9.86V Battery 2 (nothing attached just in series) - 12.10V Battery 3 (nothing attached just in series and is a brand new battery) - 11.96V Battery 4 (has positive, accessory and charger positive attached) - 10.41V Has it something to do with the accessories or the charger cables? |

Re: 2004 Precedent with new batteries going slow
That should be #2 battery that the blue wire is hooked to. Yes, accessories can draw that battery down and cuause it not to charge fully. If you have an automotive charger, charge that battery fully, let it sit for a few hours or take it for a short run and check the voltage on it again.
You need to charge all of those batteries actually. They are all low. |

Re: 2004 Precedent with new batteries going slow
Thanks - how is it that there is no accessory connected to a negative terminal and that the blue accessory line is connected to positive - Blue is normally negative?

Re: 2004 Precedent with new batteries going slow
Batteries are US 12VXC. March 2011. I just put in a brand new one Jan 2012. Its been like this since the motor was changed in March. Was advised to change batteries as the Trojans I had were old. It made no difference. I dont think it is the batteries rather something draining. I now have 5 batteries (I replaced battery 3 but it appears to be OK). So I can take that battery and replace one of the ones that are showing low (<10V) after a round of golf and see if that makes a difference.
I just thought something might be pulling power from these two. |
