Default 06 pds should i hear solinoid click ?

Excuse my ignorance ,but I have had no dealings with other than series carts until today. I checked out a pds for a friend today and no audible click even after I got it running. Is this normal ? Thanks guys, Mike

They run the same solenoid, so you should hear it if it's working.

It could be a welded solenoid, or the pedal micro switch could be stuck closed.

I thought so. I jumped the solenoid when I didn't here the click. After still no movement I found an almost corroded thru wire eyelet. Cleaned connections , replaced wire and it would move, pulled off jumper wire and it would still move with no click. Today cart went backwards then nothing. Later it would go but considerably slower than normal as it did yesterday. I blamed it yesterday on discharged batteries due to the wire problem. It had 38.7 volts but still had about 1/2 power. Charger went to 17 amps and then 15+after 30 minutes.
I wasn't there to check voltage today only repeating what our friend saw. Is there a speed limiting device on the pds carts ? How do I tell if its the solenoid or the microswitch causing no click ? Thanks guys ,this is my first attempt at other than a series cart. Mike

Use a meter to test if the solenoid is welded closed or energized constantly.

To check the solenoid you would just for continuity between the large terminals. Keep in mind if there is a resistor between them it will need to be removed. If you have continuity without the pedal being depressed you probably have a welded solenoid. You might have a controller going bad. I'm not all that familiar with the pds systems.

Use this diagram below. The PDS controller provides both the + and - sides of the solenoid activation. See blue line and yellow wire at pins 6 and 7 of plug J1

Thanks guys . Scotty I will test the solenoid Monday when I get back in town. Any guesses on 1/2 speed ? On my cart I get full power when I jump the solenoid on my almost yearly no click and no go's. Thanks Mike

The controller does have a slow down mode it can go into if it detects a welded solenoid. ....

I would think its welded closed otherwise it wouldn't move without being jumped correct ? Scotty ,how much is your 400/1000 solenoid and is it 36 or 48v or do I need a specific voltage ? I will be going to 48v in a few weeks on my cart.
