OTOH, today all I can tell you about WD-40 is (and I am not a gunsmith) but the gunsmith's I know tell me WD-40 is "their best friend."

Oh!!...I haven't heard those two words "dwell meter" in.....decades!!

Ring....Ring....."Hello....Is this Mr. Lockman? Yes. Mr. Lockman, this is the Smithsonian Historical Institution. We understand that you may be in possession of the last artifact of what was know as a "Dwell Meter"? Is this true? If so...we have two brand new Alltrax controllers we would like to trade for your Dwell Meter. Yes Mr. Lockman....we do our homework and we know your weak spots."

I worked on office equipment at one point in another life. WD40 will glue small springs and latches etc to the point we had to use very strong chemicals to remove it. My guess is WD40 was added to other lubes and they just didn't like each other. Don't use on a sewing machine either.

One other thought, I had a squeaky one at work and it was a loose shock.
