terrell axle seal leak
In the process of replacing the brakes on my caroche I found the drivers side axle seal leaking. I have found seals and bearings for 76 to 84 model Terrell axles however mine is a 75 model by the serial # M8043 . are the pre 76 axles different ? I believe that it is the original but who knows for sure. I did find the #741 or maybe 1741 at the bottom of the housing . cast not stamped there might have been more to it but that part had been scuffed by a rock or something in one of its past lives. So I figure if I have to pull the whole thing for the seal I might as well go thru every thing . I am sure that if I can get #'s off the old bearings and seals I can find replacements from Akron bearing ,Akron ohio. they are really good at matching stuff like that. If they don't have it they can get it. any sugestions or comments ? any place else to look for axle model #'s or the motor #'s my ears are open.
