Keep fuse. Just make sure everything is tight on both ends.

I would remove the fuse just so You can inspect and clean the connections and tug and twist the cable lug off the battery cable.
Just assemble everything back, with the fuse, before powering the controller. |

One thing I noticed with mine was with the length of the fuse and the weight of the wires hanging off it, it can pivot at the battery end. I used a SS star washer above and below it at the battery post.
