Re: help me buy a golf cart trailer
Any trailer you buy should put at least 125 to 150 pounds on the hitch
based on the cart weighing 1000 lbs. you can check this with a common home scale. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJVjK3a1IXA |

Re: help me buy a golf cart trailer
If you search CL, use both trailer and trailor. You get different results.

Re: help me buy a golf cart trailer
The trailer ScottyB suggested is also used for small lawn/asphalt rollers. They are pretty low for deck-height,would be a nice cart trailer for sure.We had one at the Highway Dept. I worked for,the deck was only 6"-8" off the ground when in transport position, and the angle was really nice when loading.

Re: help me buy a golf cart trailer
The 1st 2 pics are my 5"6" X 10" tilt with 4" drop and 205/15's
The 2nd 2 pics are my 6'8" X 13 with 16" dove tail 4" drop and 48" alum ramp it also has 205/15's on it. I built the first one for my cart then I bought my RZR and it was to small so I sold it and built the last one. There's a lot of pics in my build section if you want to look. Re: help me buy a golf cart trailer
i use a 6x12 built just like the pic Sir Nuke posted but with 2x8 floor boards (to allow water to drain). i had some cross members welded into the ramp (all parallel joists from manufacturer) for added durability. i added some gorilla-lift tailgate lifts to ease in lowering/raising the heavy ramp. the length of the trailer rarely presents a problem for me but really gives me A LOT of extra storage when going to the beach, or work days at the hunt club, etc. the added width was a must so i could walk all the way around the atv, cart, mower, etc. without having to jump off the trailer directly from the vehicle or climb on the rails. when loading, i pull up straight on the trailer and center the weight (battery pack for the cart or motor of atv) over the axles. that makes the ride much smoother and minimizes swaying. what i learned from towing my sea ray is that tongue weight really shouldn't exceed much more than 10% of the total weight being pulled. hope this helps.

Re: help me buy a golf cart trailer
If your only hauling one cart I would go with a 6x12 I learned the hard way I'm on my third trailer in four months started with 5x10 my g16 with rear seat was kinda tight no room for other things going to campgrounds so sold it purchased a very nice 6.5x12 sure trac trailer perfect for golf cart and a few other things I have used it one time I now have it for sale already purchased a 7x16 so I can haul 2 carts at one time. Just my 2 cents.

Re: help me buy a golf cart trailer
My buddy has a 6x10 tilt trailer and after 11 years of driving carts on it, the tongue has a little bend in it.
I have a 5x10 trailer that was used to haul a midget racer. I added the flip down gate. it hauls like a dream- I believe I am going to start backing it on, after reading some of the posts. I do run a 15 inch rim on the trailer or trailor. |

Re: help me buy a golf cart trailer
If you have any way to get your weight, you need about 10% of your total weight for tongue weight. I tried parking on the tr. in different places until I got it where I needed it and marked my place.
I done mine at the drag strip for free but you should be able to find something, truck stop, co-op, scrap yard. The pics I posted were for the O/P to see one with the drop axel. |
