Default power gauge

I just installed the DCX400 controller box. I know it will cut off at a low power to save the batteries. I would like a gauge to show how much power is in the batteries. I do not know if I need a volt gauge or an amber gauge. And how hard it is to install.

Default Re: power gauge

The DCX cuts off at low voltage to save itself, not the batteries.

I use the dash mounted DVM (pictured below) that I got from: http://www.cartsunlimited.net/Digita...ry_Meters.html

Mine is wired directly to the battery pack, so it stays on 100% of the time.
With a PDS or PDS/DCX, the voltage at the keyswitch has passed through several switches and connection (and a diode in the case of PDS/DCX), so it is not true pack voltage.

The DVM provides a lot of information, and it take some time to figure out what it all means, but once you learn what to look for and when to look for it, you have a good tool that tells you what your batteries are doing.
