That picture doesnt do much for me, it's all blurry. Based on the layout of the blurry label, I bet it's a ge motor. to post pics, hit "Go advanced", hit the "paperclip" icon, add photo, upload & submit. There are threads on how to post photos if it doesnt make sense.

Well might be a mute point...the guys at the alt shop said that the motor is shorted out. Says the discoloration shows the short (I have no idea). And he said that the way the bolts are connected they would have to rewind the motor (again...I don’t know). So they are going to put it back together...even with the broken posts I was able to jump the connections and add 12v and make the motor move. I thought about trying to solder some jumper on and try and get it connected and see if the rest of the cart is working.

Any tips on anything?

So, you gonna repair that motor yourself? If so, I'll send you a replacement "long bolt" if you need. The most I might ask is my shipping cost (not inflated costs), I dont sell parts here, just helping a guy out. If you plan on having a repair shop do it, they should also have an abundance of those bolts if they actually do golf cart motors regularly.

If you were able to make the motor spin, that's a good sign, but, it's still possible it has a short (a motor with only one shorted segment may still run, but will consume brushes at a fast rate).

Honestly, that "GE thin can motor" isnt notoriously awesome. The Series models (like you have) were far better than the sepex models tho.

Well the alternator shop said that I should just get a new motor. That the way these posts were attached was too much to try and replace. They did say that it has a short, but i was able to get the motor to spin. So i have it rigged enough to connect the charger and seems to be getting the batteries up there. Last night I took it off the charger and it read 47.3 and this morning was 46. I hooked it back up and gonna see if she goes when I get home.

If the cart will drive then I'll get one of those bolts from you.

I wouldn't mind getting a new motor but those **** things ain't cheap.

Attachment 198640Attachment 198639

So one had enough to get a nut on and tighten down. The other I drilled a hole in the post and use a screw to connect it. If this all works I’m going to get a tap and make it more secure and make it look better.

For anyone who comes across this problem again, I purchased these and they fixed my issue with a broken stud.
