Default what's this??

Helping a buddy replace some fraid "janky" wiring on his cart. while replacing them I found a wire hanging down not hooked to anything. I traced it back to a rectangular box mounted on the side of the frame rail. What is this thing? What does it do? Do I need to hook it up to something? Thanks for any help.

It's on a club car villager, if that helps any.

It's a factory voltage reducer, typically used for headlights. It's purpose is to reduce 16 volts from batteries #5 & #6 down to 12 volts so the lights can function.

Should have a wire coming out of one side with a ring terminal on it. It connects to the B- post of the controller. The other side has a wire coming out that splits off into two female blade connectors. These connectors plug into a ground block mounted on the body support right next to the charger receptacle. Your lights will draw their power from battery #5 positive for the hot feed and the negative will plug into the ground block with the negative supply from the reducer.
