1999 Club Car DS 48v so slow!

unsure about the solenoids, id have to go out and listen :) but....

See my sig for all the upgrades... the only thing I have not done yet is touch the original motor.... i was at 36, now at 48

Upgrades got me to 13-14, tires got me to 21 and aligning the front end ended up with 22...

tires went from 18 inches(stock) tall to 20 inches tall...

Replacing the controller won't get you any more speed, just more torque for hills and pulling, my cart only has one solenoid, and it should be the same as yours, mine is a 99 DS series cart , 48volt, original controller was Curtis 225amp, I sent it off and had it upgraded to 400amp. Increased my torque noticeably, didn't seem to change my speed at all.

These are series carts, more amperage will allow the series motor to produce more torque. More voltage will induce the motor to spin faster. MR MG is running a solid state conversion which allowed him to increase voltage and amperage. His stock motor is making all the power and speed it can on 48v, he also has the option to go to an aftermarket motor like the Admiral A1 or any other for even more torque & speed.

A cheap upgrade is just to put a 36 volt motor on 48 volt cart

Yes, If you can find one. I first posted this about 7 or 8 yrs ago. There has not been an abundance of these motors since.
