Default 36v to 48v conversion 1999 Club Car

I just purchased a 1999 Club Car 36v electric. Charge is not lasting that long and I was aware this was a possibility with the cart as I got it at a steal of a price.

The charger is also very old and I am not 100 percent sure that it is working properly either. How do you know if the charger is working properly, it was charging for over 14 hours and not shutting off and it always only shows 10 amps on the needle.

I was considering just buying all new batteries and a new charger but I was thinking about doing 6 8v batteries instead of the current 6 6v batteries, is it as easy as just buying the 6 8v batteries and hooking those up? Or is there other parts you have to replace to do it?

Thanks a lot for your help, am new to the forum.

Default Re: 36v to 48v conversion 1999 Club Car

No. Conversion from 36 to 48v for this cart involves modernizing the amperage delivery system. It is well worth considering.......considering this cart is running on 70yr old technology
