Pull the motor and check before buying another motor.
Could be stripped splines on motor shaft or on differential shaft, or both.

If your speed and torque are satisfactory, stick with a standard motor.
And there are other ways to change torque and speed of the cart while using a standard motor.

There's more than one way to skin a cat, so there is no simple answer to that question.

Thanks for the help. I will pull the motor tomorrow. Is it typical that both would be stripped? Basically thinking that if its just the motor, not a big deal, but if its going to be more then I may only take the yami camping next weekend

Great question and thanks for the interest ess. On this particular cart, I was and still am running the factory key switch for the headlights and factory battery meter. I now have the "cheaper" meter on my yamaha with no issue.
