1. I must admit, the pucker factor was pretty high for a few moments.

2. I want/need Regen braking, PQ is anti-Regen braking and D&D isn't.
Of course, if I wanted a motor refurbished (Bearings, Brushes, Commutator turned, Balancing, etc.), it would go to PQ.

Update:
Got motor detached from differential. Still in cart but resting on axle housing.

SWMBO and I might have invented a new way to remove a rusted on motor.

Bolts came out easy enough, but housing wouldn't budge. Got some longer bolts that bottomed out in the threads and tapped on them with a 2 pound hammer.

That broke the motor case free from the rear end housing. A few more taps created a gap wide enough to get a wedge in.
A few taps on the wedges opened the gap to about 1/4", but I was leery of putting too much pressure on the rear end housing.

I had noticed that with the mounting bolts out, the entire motor assembly would move when I leaned on the cart, so I decided to move it closer to the garage and my tools.

SWMBO drove the cart while I towed it with a lawn tractor. I knew the motor assembly would spin about 12.5 times for each tire revolution, so I towed it very, very, very slowly.

While I was disconnecting the tow rope, SWMBO mention the thumping sound had stopped about halfway there. Lo and behold, the motor was off the differential and sitting on the axle.

I had been planning to squirt some Kroil on the coupler, drive a few wooden wedges between the motor housing and differential housing and let is sit overnight, but mission was accomplished without the old school trick.

I wouldn't recommend doing it with a good motor, but you can't hurt one that is slagged down like mine is.
Just keep it slow (<1MPH?) and protect the backside of the batteries.

Here's a couple of pictures. I'll get better ones when I get it out of the cart.
It's too heavy and cumbersome for an old guy like me to lift out of where it came to rest at and I need to remove some stuff to get at it with a chain hoist or come-a-long.

WOW! Looks like the windings did some bad things, unless they were damaged when the motor fell out. I know you'll have to pull it out to really look at it, but I've had my motor apart and never noticed anything fibrous in it. Yours seems to have what looks like fiberglass fibers in it.

Wow, running all those rpms, you must have sucked a cat through the motor! I guess it's a good thing that you didn't go a full 48v on that conversion. I hope my motor doesn't meet the same fate when I upgrade to a 400 amp controller.

I don't think much of anything happened when the motor fell off. No protrusions to snag on.

Note the copper glitter in the gray fuzzy stuff around the differential input shaft.
Also note that the motor shaft appears to be twisted inside armature.
I suspect the fiberglass shards use to be part of the armature.
Possibly, the field windings were wrapped on a fiberglass form.

If that is your cart in your avatar, you probably won't be able to spin your motor at 7,500+ RPM with the tall tires.

Actually, I couldn't either, I was going downhill when it happened.
It would only turn about 6,500 RPM on level ground.

That's gruesome. I look forward to the dissection pictures though. Your ill fated motor failure will yield much more knowledge on regen and it's limits. I was going to put a blue chip (steep hill) in my high speed gear pds test cart that does 28 mph to assist with braking. I have held off pending results of your internal inspection.
