Upgrading solenoid
I'm in process of customizing my first cart. It is an 04 TXT, and so far I have added a stereo in the ball holder, speakers under the seat, light kit, Carlisle Trail wolf tires (20" not ready for lift), and yesterday 2g wires and an Alltrax DCX400.
My question is this, I am going to upgrade the solenoid, however I plan to soon convert to 48V, but will need a month or so to save for additional batteries and a new charger. Do I need to buy a 36V solenoid now and another 48V when I have the funds to buy the additional batteries and charger, or can I skip straight to a 48V solenoid now and run it with 36V until I convert to 48V? Thank you in advance for all feedback, and this forum has been extremely helpful to me so far in doing the upgrades I have completed to this point. If I would have know these carts were so much fun I would have never bought a motorcycle!! |

Re: Upgrading solenoid
Our site sponsor ScottyB (cartsunlimited.net) sells a heavy duty 400a solenoid that will work on either 36v or 48v.

Re: Upgrading solenoid
Actually, the Heavy-Duty one is 200A/800A. The 400A/1000A that works from 36V to 48V is called Super-Duty.

Re: Upgrading solenoid
Let him know when you order that you will be upgrading to 48v very soon, as the resister that comes with the solenoid will need to be changed when you go to 48v.....the 48v resister is only a few bucks. so go ahead and get that now and then you are ready to go when you get your batteries and charger.
