Controller must be powered up before you launch ControllerPro on the computer.

If it doesn't find the controller, check the settings on the com port. (Has to be Com1 through Com8 for ControllerPro to talk to controller)

Troubleshooting guide at end of programming manual.

Okay, if the green LED on the controller is on BEFORE you launch ControllrPro on the computer and you get a controller not found error, it is very likely that the USB to Serial adapter isn't installed properly (Installed in the computer is more than just being attached to it), or something isn't compatible.

I'm no expert on USB to serial cables, but my neighbor who does industrial automation, has to keep several different ones on hand, to talk to all of the devices at work. I bought my cable from ScottyB, and have never gotten it to talk to my telescope, but it works fine with my controller.

To clarify my comments, which may be wrong, there are several manufacturers which have been reported to work. Mine was pretty much plug-and-play. Other manufacturers may need more effort to setup, or may not work.

Again, I have only used one.
