Default Battery post melting

2008 Ezgo golf cart

6 new batteries purchased 3 weeks ago (charged up by dealer)

I replaced cables with nascar advantage cables from CT - (4 gauge 15 inch copper - starter to switch cable)

1 battery replaced after 1st day out. 2nd battery almost exploded during 2nd week. dealer blamed cables and will not warranty batteries

Battery post are melting - getting too hot - not sure why
help

Is the reason the cables?

Melted terminals is attributed to heat caused by bad connections. I say your cables are crap......

You say you got cables from Canadian Tire? for your cart? I know you said that they were copper....did they make them? what strand count are the cables? but typically what Knothead said is true.....

oh and btw..... Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to BGW. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, dad's, wive's, husband's, girlfriend's and boyfriend's here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

Golf carts require welding type cable. Automotive type cable will not work.
