Default Which is stronger?

Decided to take my cart out this morning to the woods to help in getting all the stuff I needed to hang a deer stand. It was the carts maden voyage since I finished it earlier this summer. Started up an old roadbed that was washed out a little, went to cross a sort of small washout, when the front of the cart raised up Just enough to take the weight off of the frontend, the cart turned to the left and dropped the front wheels off the side of the road. High centered the cart across the center of the frame rails. Couldn't back up. All I had was ratchet straps to winch the cart back into the road. As I was doing so I had to turn the wheels back straight, when the tierod extender broke. (Economy lift kit). After all the winching, the fun part was getting back to the trailer with no steering. I just tied the broken wheel straight with one of the ratchet straps. So I could semi sorta steer it back to the truck.
So leads me to my question. Now that I know for sure the the Eco. Lift is not gonna work. Which is the stronger? Drop axle or drop spindle. I was planning on upgrading with a lift/wheel/tire combo anyway, just now it's gonna be sooner than later. Also the wheels that I've been eyeing are the STI HD1, checked with several site sponsors and called a few others, no one seems to have any in stock, seems to be back ordered from the manufacturer. Any one have any idea who would have a wheel and tire combo with the HD1 available.
