F/R switch and microswitches-clarification of both operating together
So far, got my GC working good. One problem I'm still having....reverse.
I've checked the F/R switch, I have continuity between the correct terminals in forward and reverse. Don't know if it's the controller or.... The problem I'm having is understanding what the two microswitches do, namely, the orange wire and blue wire and what it does to the controller. Can someone please explain to me what "state" (open/closed) each microswitch is supposed to be in when the cart is in forward, reverse, and neutral. I know this seems like a strange request but I'm getting some weird stuff, almost like somethings not aligned correctly, not sure if that's possible or not.... Thanks... |

Re: F/R switch and microswitches-clarification of both operating together
Since it's Saturday morning, and you may not want to wait for a solid answer...
One micro will be closed in both forward and reverse, and open in neutral. This just kills power for neutral. The other will be closed in reverse and open in neutral and forward. This tells the controller to go to 1/2 speed (if selected) and activates the reverse beeper. |

Re: F/R switch and microswitches-clarification of both operating together
Here is a drawing showing when the two microswitches are supposed to be open and closed.
Note: The NC (Normally Closed) contacts are used, so the contacts are closed when the roller arm is NOT depressed. MS-2 is the switch that allows the solenoid to activate when pedal is pushed and F/RT selector is in either F or R. MS-4 (labeled MS-1 on the drawing) only turns on the beeper and, if so equipped, put the controller into half speed mode in reverse. Cart will run in both directions without MS-4 being installed. ----------- Does the solenoid click when you push the pedal in Reverse? If not, you have a MS-2 issue. If it does, the problem is in the high current contacts in the F/R switch. |
