Default Reverse buzzer / alarm

Hello, I just got our first cart for the family to get around the neighborhood. It is a 1997 EZGO Freedom, 36V, TXT, Series. When I put it in Reverse, I would like the alarm/buzzer to be loud and audible. Right now, it does not work at all. Did the 1997 carts have the alarm installed? If so, where can I find it so I may hook it back up or replace it?

Another question.....I had it out yesterday and clocked it with my GPS at a top speed of 20 mph. Everything seems to be stock/factory condition, but I didn't think they would go that fast....or do they?

Additionally, I am only able to get about 5-7 miles out of the full charge before the batteries need recharged. Is that about right or am I looking at a new set of batteries in the near future?

Thanks so much for all the help,
Ed

Welcome to BGW!

Your reverse alarm is attached to the F/R mechanism under the passenger seat. Inspect/ follow the two small wires attached to the round disc thingy. Your speed is good, as your Freedom cart obviously has the high rpm motor option, as well as a larger controller. You scored!

BTW, you should get much more range from your pack. Any idea how old the pack is?

I just went out and looked at the packs. They are Excide GC-110 packs. Three say shipped Dec 09, the other three say shipped Dec 08.

After fully charging the pack overnight I get the following reading:
Total- 37.7 Volts
Per pack- 6.2 - 6.1 Volts

I went and looked at the F/R mechanism....I did not see anything that looked like a buzzer. Is the actual buzzer under the seat as well?

Thank y'all again.

The reverse buzzer looks like this. Should be right under the environmental cover with the little hole facing up.

May look a little different than the picture.

Here is a picture of the F/R switch and the Controller. Any ideas?

Buzzer is on the back side of that switch under the tab that the cover bolt screws into. It is facing up with the wire connections facing down. The wires that go to it are not readily visible but they are there unless someone removed them and/or the buzzer.

Here is a picture of the backside of the F/R switch. I would guess someone removed it. I will run up to the Radio Shack and get a buzzer. Do you know which screws/bolts the wires of the buzzer attach?

Thanks again,
Ed

This is how it is mounted on mine. I've owned this cart since new so this is the factory solution. Sorry for the blurry pic. I will get a better one if you need it.
