Never had an opportunity to play with a 2-speed rear axle, so i cant say on that one. I am talking only about the "dana 12"/"shaffer" axle used in rxvs (and TXT, and later Marathon, and Yamaha late G14-G22 and newest Drive, and several other carts). This only comes from my experience with "mixing & matching" gear combos from various OEM gear sets. I put a Rxv posi with rxv ring gear & intermediate shaft in my marathon axle and got roughly 14.5:1 ratio (this takes some tricky bearings for intermediate shaft). My next trick will be putting a RXVe posi in a new gas Yamaha Drive (with dana/shaffer axle) to build the lifted gas Drive every gas yamaha owner has always wanted. Although i liked the "wet brakes" in drives (thats the only thing i liked with "team" axles), i am excited that yamaha went back to dana/shaffer axles.

Sounds like battery voltage drops under stress. If this is problem,Emergency/parking brake should engage to keep cart from rolling back. Does brake engage when cart stalls? do you need to turn key off then on to get cart moving again?

Hope batteries take care of problem..
Please let us know if batteries help.

Good luck..
The emergency/parking brake does engage when the cart stalls, thankfully
I don't have to turn the key off and back on, if I have my hunting partner hop off, it will slowly pull itself the rest of the way up the hill. Sounds like batteries will fix the issue. Will let you know, but will probably be about a month before I replace them. An expense that I wasn't planning for yet.

The emergency brake "setting" to keep cart from rolling back is good sign..
that happens when voltage drops due to bad battery.
Slowly pulling up hill w/o key reset is also good sign
Cart is going int "limp home mode"
Sounds like bad battery...
Bad battery can cause brakes to lock at full throttle w/o warning
Please use care driving RXV with suspected bad battery.
High speed lock up seems to cause or accelerate parking/emergency brake
failure. If this starts happening you may need to replace batteries to save $200.00 brake.

if you drive up this hill again- watch "gas" gauge -- sudden drop signals bad battery.

Please keep us posted... Let us know if batteries are bad and how it does after change..

GOOD Luck!!!

P.S. used RXV with 20" tires to pull stranded (heavy) cart uphill today.
Cart + 2 techs (185lbs + 200and change)
Pull started on hill--pulled no problem did not seem to strain !!

Thanks for all of the info, very helpful. I called the dealer that I bought the cart from, it came with a 60 days warranty and the cart was purchased on 9/5/14. They said the batteries "may" be covered, they have to do some testing. I dropped the cart off this morning, still waiting to hear back from them...

Just received a call back from the dealer. They said they performed the discharge test on the batteries, and one of them was losing its charge after 29 mins and is bad so they replaced it. They also said the control board for the charger was bad and they replaced that as well, said it was possible the batteries were not receiving a full charge as a result.
Picking it up this afternoon, going to take it out and see if the issue is resolved.

Sorry, just getting back on the site. The battery replacement and control board took care of the issue.
