Default ignition problem

Hey guys,, I need some help.. I've got a four stroke 90's model txt that originally had a pre mci 295. I installed a 295 mci engine with no problems except some spark ignition issues. Heres the problem: when you mash the pedal to go the coil fires twice and thats it. If you keep holding the pedal down you wont get anything. If you let off the pedal and mash it again you get two sparks then nothing.

I have replace the ignitor and the coil but neither resolved the problem. I am using the pre mci coil and ignitor with the mci engine. When i attempted to swap the mci pulsar coil with the pre mci pulsar I found that the holes dont line up so that was a bust. I didnt know if the pulsar would have to change or not. (didnt think it would make a difference) The pulsar is just looking for a signal, right?

Anyway, I neeeeed some help if anybody can assist. Everything else is good(compression and fuel) just need more spark.

Will I have to use the ignition off of the mci engine? Could this be my problem? If the ignition off the pre mci wont work with the mci engine, could anyone explain it to me?

mikesmotortoys knows for sure. I believe the trigger for the pulsar is different between the 2 systems so you end up needing to use all mci stuff on those.

Thanks, I didn't know for sure.. I have in fact already come up with some mci equipment for the motor swap... Give me some time to swap it out and I will respond. Thanks again for the help.
