Transaxle brakes 2011 G29 Drive
Hello everybody,
I was hoping for some help determining if my transaxle pads need to be replaced. The cart stops decent on flats but downhill especially with passengers I really need to lay into the pedal to get it to slow dow/stop. I know this is a pretty big undertaking so I wanted to start now if it needs to be done. I just wasn’t sure if this was the nature of the beast or if there are any other alternative potential issues, as I’m pretty sure this is my first ever wet braking system on anything. Thanks in advance for any info you all have |

Re: Transaxle brakes 2011 G29 Drive
there is an adjustment under your floor mat(pull up pan under mat just below gas/brake pedal)... If pedal just feels like it goes down to easy that may be all it takes...also your can try changing out the rear oil first as it is Friction modified gear oil and may just be time to change it out...If neither of these helps I would look more closely at changing friction disks in the rear transaxle...

If you still have adjustment range left on the brake cable, then the pads are probably still ok. Changing the fluid is recommended every 4 years I believe though I doubt that most do that at all.

Re: Transaxle brakes 2011 G29 Drive
Thanks guys.
So far I did change the fluid (I did use the right stuff as researched on this forum) last year because they were squealing to a stop. That corrected that problem. The pedal does not go to the floor it just seems like it takes a lot of force on the pedal to get it to stop, especially when going downhill. I even need to apply a pretty good amount of constant pressure to control my speed going downhill. My previous golf carts all had drum brakes and we’re nothing like this.... |

These brakes work very well when they are adjusted correctly and in good condition. I like them better than drum brakes but they are much harder to service.

I ordered the rebuild kit… If nothing else it’ll be a fun experience LOL.... i’ll make a video and post it on here if there’s not too much cursing and throwing things, since I was unable to locate one showing a rebuild

Re: Transaxle brakes 2011 G29 Drive
I bought a 2009 cart to rebuild. Needs the brakes done. I have the rebuild kit, silicone, fluid, new motor, Alltrax controller. I plan to do the install soon. I did find one Youtube video on disassembling the Diff. Not that great but might be helpful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hozch5JL678
I am waiting for slightly warmer weather - cart is running still but the brakes are out of adjustment range. I plan to change out the batteries for lithium soon as well |

I’m not doing a video but I’m working on a write up....working on it in short bursts when the baby allows so it would be an editing nightmare for me.....I just split the transaxle and will post when it’s complete.

Great! I would love to see it. I have all of my stuff just waiting for a time slot to tear it apart. I am doing brakes, motor, controller all together so I only have to tear it all apart once.

Re: Transaxle brakes 2011 G29 Drive
I had a minor setback one of my brake bolts head stripped upon removal... One was in there super tight for some reason, so I had to extract it so I’m gonna be on standby waiting for new bolts I just wanted to share a few photos in the meantime. The first one is what the case looks like the second you pull it apart. The second one is the brake assembly and the third one is the brake assembly with everything removed except the lower plates and six bearing balls it rests on.
I also drastically underestimated the amount of brake clean I was going to need, I brought two cans to the fight and I estimate the job requires about six total. |
