Modz Max 48 continues to blink red even after charging over night
I have a 2007 Yamaha YDRE 48 volt (4-12 volts) and a Modz Max 48 charger. I have had zero problems with the charger and batteries until yesterday. I heard a zapping noise and noticed one of my positive terminals was sparking. I replaced a bad ring terminal and was on my way. Cart running smoothly.
Last night I plugged in the charger around 5:30pm. This morning at 8:00am it is still blinking red (less than 80% charge). The charger has never taken this long to fully charge before and I'm not sure how to trouble shoot. I took charger off and have good voltage on each battery (12.5 volts on two batteries and 13.6 volts on the other two. 52.2 volts total). Any ideas? Did I screw up something when I replaced the small ring terminal? Or how can I troubleshoot the charger itself? Thanks! |

Re: Modz Max 48 continues to blink red even after charging over night
12.5v after charging isn't good voltage! Looks like that 2 batteries were undercharged and 2 overcharged. I'd recommend to check all battery connections for corrosion and If they're clean and tight. Maybe it's time to replace them.
The voltage of all 4 batteries should be the same within .2v |

Re: Modz Max 48 continues to blink red even after charging over night
Thanks Ojo.
All connections are clean and batteries are newish (08/2020). I'm thinking it's possible I didn't crimp the wire properly to the new ring terminal. All I used was pliers. The newly installed ring terminal is on the series of two batteries with the lower voltage. Thoughts? What should battery voltage be after charging? |

Re: Modz Max 48 continues to blink red even after charging over night
Enclosed a picture of my 2007 Ydre project cart to compare. That batteries ( Trojan ) were 11 years old, voltage fully charged and some hours of rest time they had 12.8 - 12.9v each. My actual Trojan RXV batteries ( 3 years old ) fully charged were at 12.9 - 13.1v. Pack voltage at 100% SOC is 50.9v.
