The top side of the crankshaft will always turn towards the carb side of the engine. You can find a engine manual here

I don't mean to get into a whole big thing with you here, but most average Joe people don't give a rat's hiny which side you look at to determine the rotation. Besides, if it runs CCW on the crank side, it can be assumed it turns CW when looking at it the flywheel side. Plus, on some golf cart engines, you can't even see the flywheel. Yamahas are nearly impossible to see because of the shroud, and Club Cars are impossible to see because of the cover. E-Z-GO engines are the only ones that you can actually see the flywheel fan rotating on.

IT RUNS, IT RUNS..
I finally got some time to do the important stuff (play with toys). So I hooked up the wires per the diagram, squirted some gas in the carb, and IT RUNS.
I am of course very happy, as I was told the engine didn't run and would need to be rebuilt. Now I feel I am well on my way to meeting my spring deadline. Does anyone have a used carb for a 295 robins twin, ( I broke the old one removing the float) ??

OK, the carb arrived, Thanks Ruredy. Now just to find enough free time to try it out.
