Taylor Dunn utility cart won't move
I have a Taylor Dunn B-150 utility cart (2000), and the cart will not move. When the accelerator is pushed there is no clicking back at the solenoids. The batteries and cables are good and clean. Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Taylor Dunn utility cart won't move
Well, to start at the obvious, check battery pack charge with a volt meter.
check and wiggle all the big cables to see If there are any loose connections. |

Batteries are charged and could not find any loose wiring connections. Also, checked the key switch and forward reverse switch and they are good. Not getting a click on the ISO solenoid when the accelerator is pushed and the vehicle is in neutral. (key on)

Re: Taylor Dunn utility cart won't move
You say the switches are good so you must have a volt meter to check with so check to see if the solenoid is getting power to the small terminals of the solenoid when the pedal is pushed. Not sure which terminal....one is a ground and the other is positive. If you are getting power then the solenoid is bad and needs replacing. Also check the micro switches. Make sure they click....even if they click doesn't mean they are good.

Re: Taylor Dunn utility cart won't move
Mr picky, I admire that you want to fix your own cart but, IMO this is a tough way to learn. The guys you are asking - some have 30 yrs of DC electric diagnostics under their belts. When they say just ' just check this and isolate that, determine such and such...." well, they can do it 'layin down' drunk. Not that some of them don't.
There are some wiring diagrams available if you google vintage golf carts. Myself, I replaced alot of bulbs before I learned to test a switch if ya know what I mean.......Good luck |

Re: Taylor Dunn utility cart won't move
If your TD is a 2000 model you'll have a "curtis" controller and a "accelerator module" a "main" solenoid and 2 other solenoids, 1-forward/1-reverse. TD repairman have a "service wire harness" that when "plugged into the harness and accelerator module" tells them witch item is not working. You can "bench" test the main solenoid. I would suspect the accelerator module, when I was a TD service center I changed them regularly. Unfortunatly I beleive you can only get one thru a TD authorized dealer. Good luck. Keep us posted. Re: Taylor Dunn utility cart won't move
I bought a new accelerator module from Yale/Chase. I installed it and the cart runs at first. I put it in reverse and it doesnt run anymore in forward or reverse. So now I am more perplexed than ever!! Could this module have been bad from the factory?

Re: Taylor Dunn utility cart won't move
Just an update on my post. Two cables were touching at the speed controller causing the accelerator module to run in forward but to short out in reverse. $400 later all is well. (The cost of two accelerator module)
