Default TXT paint question

I'm doing a complete upgrade on a TXT. The upgrade will include installing lights. I also want to paint it. I see a thread above about body removal. It sounds kind of work intensive. Do most people remove the body to paint? Do they reinstall with rivets or some other fastener?

rivets rivets and more rivets. get out the 1/4 drill bit and start drilling them , i buy the 10 pack from harbor freight for as many as i do , also save yourself some headaches and get a air hydraulic rivet gun and rivets while your there , it will definitely be needed to reassemble the cart , as you do not want to try and hand rivet it.

It's easier and makes for a better job to remove the body. It's not that hard, just drill the rivets.

Does HF have the same kind of rivets as stock? Is there really so many you don't do em by hand? Has nobody switched to a removable fastener, like stainless maybe?

I'm going with a hand job, Riveting that is. I bought the hand riveter from harbor freight. It is a little more labor, but not to bad, you just have keep pumping it until it pops. I never knew that, I thought you could just squeeze it once and be done.

If I had to guess, around 30-40 rivets.

Is there any reason I don't want to get a rivet kit from Buggies unlimited? It's not expensive and I don't have a HF close by.

There are exactly 30 rivets in the entire TXT body. there are only 4 that truly require much muscle, as they are 1/4" ...... all of the rest are just regular pop rivets. Just so you know what you are looking at.....attached are the Body Removal/Install Instructions straight from Ez-Go.

Thanks Sir Nukem,

That's a good reference. Reading through it I learned something else. The run/tow switch is for towing the cart. This might sound stupid, but I thought you put it in tow if your pulling something with the cart. LOL.

So I drilled all the rivets and pulled the body for paint. I can't believe how much dirt was under the body. You would have thought it was for mud bogging. I got a rivet kit for the assembly.
