PD3 charger Needle goes down
What would cause the amp gauge on a PD3 charger to go down and quiver? It is on a 2009 Precedent. I tried it on another cart and it does the same. I tried another charger on this cart and it works.

Re: PD3 charger Needle goes down
Sounds like a diode or rectifier issue, but take a look here first. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...eshooting.html

Re: PD3 charger Needle goes down
NoleFan is right. What model is your charger, a 26560 or a 26580?

Re: PD3 charger Needle goes down
TD
It is a 26560. I tested the rectifier and it was bad. I replaced it with a new one and the charger is working. The needle is above 15 amps and the charger is getting hot. I tried another charger on the cart and it does the same. I tried the repaired charger on another cart and it is working normal. I will leave it plugged into its own cart and watch it to make sure it comes down. All batteries have correct amount of water and are two years old. If the needle stays above the 15 for a long time and does not come down, what could that be caused by.? |

TD;
I put my VOM on the battery pack with the charger unhooked and it showed 48.7. When I plugged in the charger it went up slowly and is now at 51.8 but the needle is still above the 15 at about where the 17 would be. HarryT |

Re: PD3 charger Needle goes down
Let it charge. It's not uncommon for a PD3 to peg the meter. It may charge for up to 16 hours.

TD;
It is now up to 53.3 and the needle down a little below 15 so I think we have the problem solved. TD and all who responded; Thanks; HarryT |
